The top 10 producing countries account for 79.60% of global production. The main producing country is Mexico, followed by India, whereas Spain is the first export country of lemons and limes. Mexico was the leading global producer of lemons, with production amounting to about 3.2 million metric tons.

10. Peru :-
Peru represents about 4 per cent of global lemons production, with the production of 8.3 million tons. The lemon is cultivated over 26,000 hectares. Consumption in Peru is around 95 per cent of the available domestic supply. Peru's leading export markets for lemon are Chile, the United Kingdom (UK), Panama, the US and the Netherlands. Peru exports around 17,500 tons. Chile is the top market for Peruvian lemons accounting for 50 per cent of the exports
Italy is the EU’s second largest lemon producer after Spain, producing about 419,000 metric tons. Tarocco, Moro, Sanguinello, Naveline, and Valencia are the leading orange varieties grown in the country. Moreover, Ippolito and Meli's cultivars are gaining popularity. Italy's leading destinations for lemon are Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland and Slovenia.
Though lemons grow in many parts of Italy, lemons in Italy are most often grown on the Amalfi Coast and in Sicily. Sicilian lemons are more widely known and distributed throughout Italy, and many European countries. Sicily is Italy’s main lemon-producing region and accounts for 64% of the crop’s production within the country. Calabria accounts for approximately 19 per cent of total production. The lemons also grow on the island of Ischia, Northern Italy, in the area that surrounds Lake Garda.
The United States of America accounts for 4.37% of total world lemon production, producing 876,340 tonnes. Lemons are cultivated over 21,970 hectares. Eighty per cent of these lemons went to the fresh market. Most U.S. lemons are grown in California and Arizona. California is the largest lemon-growing state with 47,000 acres in production. The remaining 8,300 acres are grown in Arizona.
Spain accounts for 4.41% of total world lemon production, with the production of 884,890 tonnes. Spain accounts for more than 60% of European production. It is cultivated over 46,840 hectares. The main varieties grown in Spain are
Fino, Verna and Eureka. Spain is the world's second-largest producer of processed lemons, with a business volume of more than 700 million euros.

for over half of both China’s total lemon-growing area and its total lemon crop. Tongnan dominates the domestic market with nearly 100 processed lemon products and exports them to nearly 30 countries. More than 40,000 families plant nearly 30,000 hectares of lemons in Tongnan.
