The global airline industry was worth $686 billion in 2020. It employed 10.2 million workers, funded 65.5 million jobs and $2.7 trillion of economic activity: 3.6% of the global GDP. Over four billion passengers have been carried by airlines in 41.9 million commercial flights. An airline is a company that offers air transport services for travelling passengers and freight. Airlines use aircraft to offer these services and may form alliances with other airlines for codeshare agreements, in which they both offer and manage the same flight. The largest alliances are Star Alliance, SkyTeam and Oneworld, and these three altogether manages more than 60% of global commercial air traffic.

The industry includes passenger transportation on scheduled and nonscheduled routes both domestically and internationally, as well as cargo airlines. There are several different ways to define the biggest airlines including revenues, the number of employees, or fleet size. The largest airline by passengers carried and fleet size was the American Airlines Group, Delta Air Lines was the largest by revenue, assets value and market capitalization. Lufthansa Group was the largest by several employees, FedEx Express by freight tonne-kilometres, Turkish Airlines by several countries served, Ryanair by several routes and UPS Airlines by several destinations served.

10. All Nippon Airways :-

All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. is the largest airline in Japan by revenues and passenger numbers. It is headquartered in Shiodome City Center in the Shiodome area of Minato ward of Tokyo. The airline company founded in 27 December 1952 as Japan Helicopter and Aeroplane. The airline is a member of Star Alliance. The company operates 219 passenger planes.

ANA operates several subsidiary passenger carriers, including its regional airline, ANA Wings, Air Nippon, Air Do, and Allex Cargo. 
It conducts services to both domestic and international destinations and had more than 20,000 employees. ANA has an extensive domestic route network that covers the entirety of Japan. The company was founded in 1 July 1988 after the restructuring of the CAAC Airlines that acquired and merged a number of domestic airlines.

The airline operates more than 2,000 flights daily. China Southern Airlines serves 193 destinations in 35 different countries worldwide. China Southern is also considering promoting into the South American markets, as well as further expansion into the African market.

Emirates operates a fleet of 252 passenger aircraft and 11 cargo aircraft operated by Emirates SkyCargo. Emirates operates the largest fleet of both the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft in the world, with one A319 as an executive jet.

It provides services including Airline services, Passenger air transport services, Air freight services. British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling and LEVEL operate under their separate brand names.

It had revenue of US$47.007 billion and has 91,000 employees. It controls subsidiaries Delta Private Jets, Endeavor Air, LATAM Airlines, Virgin Atlantic. The airline, along with its subsidiaries operates over 5,400 flights daily and serves 325 destinations in 52 countries on six continents. Delta and its worldwide alliance partners operate more than 15,000 flights per day. Delta operated a fleet of 750 aircraft manufactured by Airbus and Boeing. Delta operates the largest Boeing 717, Boeing 757, and Boeing 767 fleets in the world, and the largest Airbus A330 fleet of any US airline.
